Dr. Dan is an amazing dentist! I waited months to make this comment. My front tooth was chipped and several dentists have done a filling on it before. It has always chipped after just a few weeks. Every time I need to get it redone, the dentist had to drill the hole bigger and the last dentist even told me I need a crown so it won’t chip anymore. Dr. Dan fixed it with a filling for me last year and it’s still in my mouth today even after all the hard food I’ve ate! It looks super natural and you can’t even tell it’s a filling. Great job!

I believed the reviews. My bad. This has been a complete disappointment. Started getting new dentures on 10.25.23. Not even close to be being completed and it’s 1.24.24. I had 2 appointments cancel. 1 because my mold was never sent to the lab. That was a 5 week wait. Then when they came in the dentures were wrong. Now today, after a 3 week wait, my appointment for tomorrow was cancel as the dentures were not shipped. I waited 3 weeks for this appointment and when they get them in, that will be another 3 week wait for an appointment. Then, if all does go well, another 3 week wait to hopefully, get the actual dentures. 4-5 months for new dentures.

They help do bi-yearly checkups for me. Today, they did an oral cleaning. They use dentist tools to scrape away at stuff. They also use fluoride stuff. Also, the people here (i.e., the staff) have been openly sadistic and openly narcissistically seductive here, and the Wi-Fi isn't encrypted/secured.This is all very unprofessional.Don't recommend.

I am sharing the experience of my son this week. The business is closed down ALL week for Christmas. My son is having extreme dental pain due to recent dental work. He called the call center 3 times. Each time he got someone different and was told that they would forward his message to the Dentist. The first one said that a prescription would be called in for him which did not happen. Usually you have to see someone to get a pain prescription. No one called him. He will probably be going to an urgent care tomorrow. But really? I told him to find a different Dentist who cares about their patients!

My mother went in here for a new patient exam after her current dentist stopped taking her insurance. She walked out with a $2,000 treatment plan, and a completed application to a high interest rate credit card with undisclosed credit terms! How’s that for your neighborhood dentist…Please stay far away from this place and the debt serfdom they promote for unnecessary dental work.

I struggled to find a dental service provider that accepted Medicare but luckily found out that Smiles on Calumet would take care of me. I was pleasantly surprised with the level of expertise, and hospitality I received! As many others have mentioned, I'm not fond of dental visits but I can honestly say that I always have a good feeling when my procedures are completed! They have always treated me like family and I highly recommend their services!!

They do a decent job overall but I specifically told them that I needed to get a filling as well as my cleaning because I don’t often get days off that I can go to the dentist. The person scheduling the appointment said no problem they would mark it down, when I got there for the appointment they did the cleaning and inspected the location I said needed a filling and agreed that it would need work then proceeded to ask when I would like to schedule it to be done! I had told them I needed it done and now I have to try to find more time to go back! I am not happy about this as now not only will I have to pay to have work done I will be missing work so I won’t be getting paid for my time away. They need to listen a bit better.

If I could give a negative number i would! I worked at a dental office for almost 5 years so this is all not new to me, but moving and change of jobs left me looking for a new office/dentist. Went in for a cleaning and new pt. exam, I trusted their knowledge on my teeth and next steps to take. Next thing you know I have a $10K treatment plan and they refused to allow me to set up a cleaning. I went to 2 other doctors to get a second and third opinion- neither of these doctors saw what smiles indicated I had- no bone loss, only one cavity, only a few pockets above a 4- and to top it off after 5 attempts to bill insurance (which i do for a living) they stated my insurance was in active, which was not true. Instead of figuring out the insurance billing they just sent me to collections. 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND- THEY ARE JUST LOOKING FOR $$$ Also the manager who handles upset pts does nothing but make up lies and excuses. I know the law.... good try though. DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE.

Update:I have completed my appointments for Dental work. The doctor did a fantastic job, he was patient and caring. He made my comfort his biggest priority he was extremely professional and understanding. Erika (hopefully spelled that correct if not I apologize) was a godsend. She was extremely understanding, nice, and caring she did her very best to ensure my comfort. Both treated me with respect. I can’t say enough about how they treated me. I had to go back for an adjustment and worked with Adam he was awesome as well. I would recommend them to anyone I know especially if they fear dental visits like myself. Thank You===================================================My first experience with Smiles On Calumet I wasn't impressed. The staff seemed cold and distant and not understanding of fears that people have of Dental work. That quickly changed I returned back just a few months later and the staff had an overhaul and they are all incredible. I have worked with Hygienist Debra who is incredibly understanding patient and caring. I have now worked with her twice and every time has been an awesome experience. The rest of the staff seems very understanding of anxiety related to dental work and makes it their priority to ensure that their patients are comfortable during any procedure. I have to have dental work done in the near future but I dread it less because I know I will be in great hands.

Incredibly offensive.I had brought my nine and a half year old son in for a check up and cleaning. He was found to have two cavities along with plaque and tartar buildup on his teeth, though we brush twice a day every day. I wasn’t greeted or introduced to the dentist when I went back to get the check up results. I was was demanded by the dentist himself that I need to hover over my son while he is brushing or do it for him myself. The dentist used a very condescending tone when he looked me in the eye and said, “Be a parent and get it done.” I would love to be the parent. In fact, I just finalized the adoption on this child and now I GET to be the parent and make these decisions for and with my child. It was extremely hurtful to be told that I haven’t been a parent to my son. The dentist then went on to insult my child’s ability to care for his body in front of my child saying, “He doesn’t have the dexterity to do it himself.” Though I was offended and hurt I joking said, “Well our family just has bad teeth.” Even though my son is not biologically mine I like to refer to him as if he is. In another condescending tone, he told me that his teeth have nothing to do with his genetics. I’m not a dentist but I am sure he did not look at his chart or he would have realized that my son was born addicted to his birth mothers drug and alcohol use. According to the following article:Prenatal Substance Use Disorders and Dental Caries in ChildrenN Auger et al. J Dent Res. 2020 Apr:Children exposed to maternal substance use had a higher incidence of hospitalization for dental caries than unexposed children (105.2 vs. 27.0 per 10,000 person-years). Maternal substance use was associated with 1.96 times the risk of childhood dental caries (95% CI, 1.80-2.14), including a greater risk of caries of enamel, dentin, or cementum (HR, 2.00; 95% CI, 1.82-2.19) and dental pulp (HR, 2.36; 95% CI, 2.07-2.70), relative to no substance use.Again I am not a dentist so I cannot confirm if my child has increased dental issues from being born addicted but I have read a few articles saying that it would. I do know that I was offended and that demanding someone to, “Be a parent.” Whether the child is biologically related or adopted is not the right way to ask for a task to be done. I would have been much more open to conversation to give him the details of my my new sons past had the dentist said, “For a few months please monitor his brushing and assist him until he gets the hang of it.” Or perhaps give me more information on how to care for the teeth of a child who was born addicted and could be prone to more dental problems. This behavior needs to change. Both my son and I left feeling uncomfortable, upset and offended. We will not be returning.
