12-14-23 Today I walked into the dentist hoping to be seen , you have to wear a mask , was not aware of this policy , they charge me a dollar for a mask , first red flag then they had me fill out paperwork, then had me fill the same paperwork out on my phone, no organizing at all. Proceeded upstairs to my appointment, to my surprise the receptionist told me my insurance was expired, and that they called me , not true at all . That the cost would be 220 for X-rays . This was a big misunderstanding because I do have dental insurance, but my hr office was closed by now it’s 4:30 in the evening. Now they telling me I owe 65.00 for a cancellation. I never canceled I’m here !!! Moral of the story , we try to support black business, this dentist office is a get over , hungry for money !!! DR SHELDON THE daughter has a nasty disposition and I would strongly advise anyone not to come to the office . Not Patient friendly at all . All about a Dollar Bill.

Been going here for YEARSSSSS. It appears the customer courtesy has depleted horribly. Was charged almost $700 for a service they knew was’nt billable before I arrived. Hence they did the dental work and then told me the price. Courtesy would’ve informed the patient of the price prior to arrival!!

I cannot understand how this place has such wonderful reviews! This place is a train wreck. The doctor was ok. However, the team is beyond incompetent and consistently fails to meet reasonable expectations. I sought them out because they are a black owned business- boy am I sorry I ever walked into their doors.They were not prepared for my initial visit! Now, I have had to call them for a referral three times. This is the worst experience that I have ever had with a dental office.

Don't go here. 6 years ago, I went here and everybody in the office looked like they were under 25 years old or interns. I Met Dr. Shelton and he was friendly but he had too many young people there. I scheduled to get a full mouth cleaning. When I went there for the full month cleaning, they only took something called a measurement, which is something I did not asked for and scrapped a couple of teeth and told me she was done. I asked her, what about the full mouth cleaning and she said I just did. I reminded her that its been 7 months since the last cleaning and she is suppose to clean each and every tooth in my mouth and she said the rest of the teeth are cleaned . I was thinking, Its been 7 months since the last time I had them cleaned so how can they be clean now?, I made sure my health insurance company did not pay them. PLEASE DON'T GO HERE. 4 months later, I get a response that said we don't guarantee a full cleaning but they charge me for a full cleaning.

The absolute Worse dental office ever!!! My first and last time here!! I made an appointment for 8am because I work 11pm-730a.m. when I got there paperwork wasn't filled out okay my fault, but that still doesn't excuse me sitting in the waiting area until 9:45a.m. I was a new patient and was having issues with my phone filling out the paperwork. The receptionist was nice enough to help me but , I will never, ever go back there!!

I’m rating three stars now. I had to rate it in order to comment. I went to Dr. Shelton years ago. Everyone was very professional. My insurance changed and I had to leave. Reading some of the reviews makes me nervous. Now that I have dental insurance that they will accept. I will judge for myself. I’m going based on how I was treated years ago. I will update this post when I find out for myself.

I’ve always received great care at Shelton’s. The young lady who prepped me was very kind and helpful. Chloe his daughter did a good job removing my tooth. She was great! I recommend her as well as the others. Check them out, you won’t be sorry!

listen, im not really the type to leave a review unless something really off or something really great happens. unfortunately, the established staff are INCREDIBLY rude. initially, the person i spoke to over the phone scheduling my appointment was condescending when i asked questions about what my insurance copay would look like after they ran my insurance info, claiming "i should already be aware of how much i need to pay." i was emailed a new patient packet, filled it out not once, twice, but THRICE - as i was filling it out for the third time in the office (which was a completely different format than the one i was emailed), thankfully i arrived 20 minutes early, what i believed to be the actual dentist went behind the front desk and started berating the two people (who happened to be training) trying to figure out how to access my paperwork and why it was unable to download, asking them if they were able to "comprehend a basic sentence" and "able to read." at this point, it was an hour after i was scheduled to be seen, and i had to reschedule due to a time constraint. when i was going to leave, the established receptionist followed me outside to ask me why i needed to leave, then kept asking me to text her my insurance card and information. i have never had an office visit this awkward and unprofessional! i did not heed the yelp reviews or the most recent google reviews!!!! do not be like me!!!! also treat people with kindness ESPECIALLY if theyre JUST learning how to do their job effectively!! such an uncomfortable environment!!!

I had dental concerns regarding a root canal and Dr. Shelton allowed me to come and share my concerns. We were able to develop a treatment plan which decreased my anxious mood. I’m grateful for the experience considering she provided active listening, and empathic understanding skills. If you are in the market for a new dental home.
