For anyone looking for a new dentist: I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Modern Smiles.Dr. Rita and staff are all really incredible. My entire life, I really disliked going to the dentist. This team knows that the dentist isn't everyone's favorite place to go (but it is very necessary), and therefore they create an environment that is welcoming and comfortable!Since I started going to Modern Smiles - I can honestly say that I ENJOY going to the dentist as much as a person can! Dr. Rita is well-versed in her profession, always open to feedback and questions, super informative and always ensures that I am numb enough before proceeding with any procedure. The entire staff is super personable and they all actually care to get to know their patients. Any friends that have asked for a good dentist - I have recommended Modern Smiles!Thank you, Dr. Rita and staff!!

I can't say enough positive things about Modern Smiles! From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and at ease. The team, led by dentists Rita Shah, truly goes above and beyond to provide top-notch dental care.Dr. Shah's expertise and passion for dentistry are evident in every aspect of my visit. She took the time to thoroughly explain my treatment options and addressed all of my concerns with patience and kindness. The use of innovative dental technology only enhanced my experience, making procedures smoother and more efficient.I highly recommend Modern Smiles to anyone in need of dental care in the Lakeview area of Chicago.

Great experience! Both my dentist and her assistant were incredibly friendly, informative, and understanding. The front desk person too! It was my first time going to the dentist in 4 years and I was nervous about going back, but they all made the experience very positive. They took a 3D scan of my teeth and could literally show me exactly what the problems were and how I could fix them. I’m looking forward to many more appointments at their office!

I enjoyed my experience with Dr Sidra but I had an awful time with scheduling and the dental assistants. One dental assistant from my last visit wanted me to stick my unwashed hand to hold the apparatus for an xray during my root canal and that honestly shocked me. That was my last visit. They also need to change their gloves often. Touch the light, grab the tools from the cabinets, and then stick their hand inside your mouth? Just because they have gloves on doesn’t justify that. At least have some basic training of changing gloves often and paying attention to what you touch. Also whoever was in charge of scheduling was awful when I cancelled my last appt. After I didn’t reply within 3 hrs they bugged me immediately to reply and that I immediately should to reserve for other folks. I understand that but that was only a few hours.

I have been to quite a few dental offices in both the city and the surrounding area, and I can honestly say this was one of the better experiences! The staff and doctors are SUPER friendly and do a really good job breaking everything down for you. They also were really flexible with scheduling and were able to work with my wild schedule. The technology is also state of the art and they really think of everything. Never had I had a dental chair with a massage feature before this place!I highly recommend!

Just had to fire Modern Smiles as my provider, I've been with them for over 2 years, they've made thousands of dollars from my insurance and out of pocket. Dr. Shaw did a procedure for me 6 months ago that wasn't executed fully, and because it's 1 day over the 6 month mark - they tried to make me pay for their mistake. Even though this procedure was supposed to last for years. They're all very nice, but the motivation is always about up-selling. Each "dental plan" always has unnecessary line items. It's just about a constant insincere push to get more money while they smile at you. Won't be back.

I have been going to this dentist for a while and have had emergency appointments, a procedure, and regular cleanings here. The facility is clean, modern, and welcoming. The doctor is knowledgeable and friendly and I feel that she’s interested in me and my health as a patient. Dr. Shah is also great at sharing what’s going on with your dental health, too. All the other staff members are really competent and kind as well. I think all the services I’ve been provided here have been really stellar.

Experience was fine but late/cancellation policy is extremely inflexible and the lack of compassion and understanding unfortunately left me feeling frustrated, threatened with fees, and unwilling to return. Needed to pick up a retainer without even seeing the doctor and they wanted to charge me $50 for rescheduling after already charging especially high prices at their practice. Left a greedy taste in my mouth

So I have had a fear of the dentist from a traumatic dental experience in my teens. For years dentists have not listened to me when I said my wisdom teeth needed to come prior to any deep cleanings which put me off from even showing up!When I went to Modern Smiles I was so bummed to learn just how bad my wisdom teeth were doing and that they needed to come out. The ladies at the practice are amazingly sweet and accommodating as I had no child care for my very well behaved 6 year old - they didn’t roll their eyes at me and allowed him to sit quietly while he played his Nintendo - he said his favorite is “the really nice lady” Miranda.I definitely should win an Oscar for my dramatic performance during the extraction but that was only due to my own PTSD as the Doc proceeded with the utmost care and patience while I literally squirmed away. It also only took 9 minutes to extract my teeth!! I’m now one day post-procedure and I’m in less pain than before I went in, I actually don’t need ANY pain meds!Thank you ladies!

I moved to the neighborhood last year and tried Modern Smiles back in April.Dr. Iqbal did x-rays and diagnosed me with 5 cavities which needed filling. This surprised me since I get cleanings every 6 months. She showed me pictures of discoloration which she said were cavities. So I asked my old dentist downtown for a second opinion- giving him the same x-rays taken by Modern Smiles and not telling him their findings. I went in to his office for evaluation, and he said I had zero cavities. He noted the staining and said specifically it was NOT cavities. He did note one spot to keep an eye on over time, saying it was not severe and between teeth which would make a filling difficult.I called Modern Smiles and told them about this, and Dr. Iqbal said she stood by her diagnosis.Needless to say, I did not go forward with treatment. I told some co-workers about this at the time, and one said he heard similar stories about Modern Smiles. The Google reviews looked good which is why I trusted them originally, and thus why I'm writing this review.Minor issue #2:Fast forward to today. I got an email saying I had a $25 cancellation fee on my account- for an appointment I cancelled in October (a 6 month cleaning I would have scheduled in April). I do remember cancelling it- when I got a text a day or two before. I NEVER confirmed this appointment (obviously wasn't sticking with them). I called today to explain this whole situation, and the person stood by the cancellation policy and said the fee would stay on my account. It seems this business leans heavily to policies and recommendations to get $$$$. Pursuing business interests is understandable, but over-diagnosing cavities is pretty egregious to me. You only get one set of natural teeth in your life, and unnecessarily drilling holes into those is pretty bad! Then under the circumstances, not waiving the cancellation fee is just bad customer service.
