Come here for your orthodontic needs! Super friendly and kind staff, clean and comfortable office. The front has plenty of chairs, couch, and even a table for homework or work while waiting. The staff know their patients by face ☺️. Appointments are prompt and patients are brought back quickly. There’s even a gentle, friendly office dog to love on you while you wait. In terms of orthodontics, my daughter was in desperate need of braces. They created a plan at initial consultation with multiple payment options, walked us through the details and options, and she was wearing braces within a week. As a 10 yo her teeth moved super quickly and braces came off within 6 months. The permanent retainer didn’t stay well, so they even applied the front brackets again to retain ideal teeth position at this sensitive age. Highly recommended.

Dr Chuck and his staff are very kind, helpful and efficient! The atmosphere is welcoming and they make you feel at home. My son’s teeth in the first few weeks have already reshaped his entire face! I really like that you can pay one fee up front for the entire process and it saves you money! I am so thankful for their services! And don’t let me forget about the amazing massage chair I get to use while I wait for my son to get his braces checked! Super thankful! 🙏🏻

We have gone to Surf City Smiles for all of our family's orthodontic needs and have nothing but great things to say about this office! My eldest son just got his braces off (2nd round) and his teeth look amazing - yay! The process was easy and Dr. Chuck explained what was going on each step of the way. My younger son has a more complicated mouth, so his braces will be on longer, and yet everything is going smoothly as well. From an awesome office space, qualified staff, personalized treatment, friendly people, fantastic Dr., and assistance with billing questions, we seriously have NOTHING BAD to say about this place! I actually look forward to my kids' appointments because I enjoy chatting with everyone so much! Dr. Carlson and his team are just fabulous! We love the entire team. Our family have been going to Surf City Smiles for years. We have 5 kids and Dr Carlson has been so wonderful with each of them. They have earned my trust, and I am so grateful to be able to entrust my kids’ teeth to them. The entire team is so warm and takes the time to care for each of our kids. I have 2 boys and both are patients with dr carlson. My oldest had a severe overbite and needed lots of corrective work. We are nearly done and his progress has been amazing! His smile is completely changed for the better! My kids actually look forward to their appointments. The entire staff has been nothing but wonderful to our family. Even as far as coming in during closed hours to help. I would highly recommend Dr Carlson and surf city smiles!

I personally worked with Dr. Carlson back in like 2016; with that being said I can confidently say he is the best orthodontist. His cases come out perfect, he pays attention to detail and cares about his patients. When I worked with him my son was 1 and I told him and myself that when my son was old enough and needed braces he would only be treated by Dr. Carlson. Years later here I am with a now 8 year old that needs phase I treatment. Dr. Carlson opened his own practice in HB, about an hour and a half from where I live and now I’m driving an hour and a half for my son to be treated by him. I can blindly trust Dr. Carlson and know my son is getting the best treatment. I literally can’t say it enough, he is the best orthodontist , I’ve been in the dental field for 13 years so I can say this lol. Tara is also just as amazing. She went over my insurance with me and got us all set up for our appointments. She made my son comfortable, she made him laugh and smile and as a mother I can’t ask for more. Every time I call the receptionist is friendly. The office environment is welcoming. It’s the best place and you won’t regret going to Dr. Carlson.

I went to several orthodontists before starting my treatment with Dr. Carlson, and I’m so glad I waited. I’ve had braces once before when I was in junior high to correct my bad underbite/crossbite, but over the next few years, my jaw relapsed to a worse position than what I started with. I was incredibly embarrassed to smile and never did with my teeth showing. So of course, this time around I was skeptical with any orthodontist that promised that they’d easily fix my problem.Unlike other orthos, Dr. Carlson stood out with his transparency about my situation. At our initial consultation, he discussed what he planned to do, how he envisioned my treatment, what my options were in terms of orthodontic/surgical treatment, and finally showed me a patient with a similar bite who he recently helped. He let me know that he would do his best without setting my expectations too high. I decided to trust him, and I was also able to arrange something that worked with my finances being a full-time student.During the treatment process, I felt cared for at each visit. Unlike the 15+ chair office that I had gone to in the past that focused on churning patients in and out, Dr. Carlson’s office was much more personal. I’m an out-of-state patient since I go to grad school across the country, and Dr. Carlson himself even came in on his day off to check on my teeth when I was back visiting family. He was also encouraging throughout the process which helped me adhere to using my rubber bands. As I progressed, we were both pleasantly surprised with the outcome, which exceeded both of our expectations.A year and a half later, my smile is amazing and looks so natural!!! All my family and friends love the result too. Needless to say, Dr. Carlson underpromised and overdelivered. I have my confidence back and couldn’t be happier!

Dr. Carlson and staff provided me with great advice on how to fix my smile, and it honestly changed my life. The comfortable consultation brought me to the conclusion on something I’ve been avoiding for a while. Upon analysis, we decided on full Invisalign treatment. In my case about 18 months. Dr. Carlson kept me up to date on the process throughout my ortho treatment. (I ask a lot of questions)After 18 months, things were looking awesome.
