Be careful by what they say they are going to do and what they actually do. We were changing insurance due to a job change and because of the way they filed the claim, neither insurance will cover. They told us they were going to bill the insurance the day we signed the contract, but in fact it was a month later and insurance would not cover. We are now on the hook for the extra money owed because the person that was supposed to take care of this is no longer at Hurley and Volk.

We started 4 years ago this place was amazing! Absolutely loved seeing Dr Hurley and occasionally Dr Volk. Unfortunately they have not been at the South Elgin location for some time and our experiences have not been as they once were.Appointments have been canceled and rescheduled multiple times ant the offices request and then put on the patient as being at fault.We paid in full at the start of treatment. The required weekly scans often don’t go through because it says we are late on payments.Conflict of communication with one provider asking to wear/not wear rubber bands and then next visit we get asked why we haven’t been wearing them.After getting two different sets of Invisalign liners we were just told the bottom set isn’t fitting properly.They ask for virtual appointments but never get one. The office calls, asks how things are then marks it down as a virtual appointment without visually seeing patient.We miss Dr Hurley & Dr Volk but need to continue with treatment as we already paid in full.

My experience with Hurley and Volk was a positive one. I learned that you are never too old to straighten your teeth and improve your smile. Invisalign worked for me!The staff is always friendly and professional.

I loved it there they were so nice and accommodating because during my treatment I moved a couple hours away and when I said that they offered to move my treatment closer to my house but I said no so they staggered my appointments so I didn’t have to come so frequently and I don’t think anyone else would have done something like that.

Everyone in usually so pleasant and professional. The care is great usually. I’m just sad that the only professional doctors I’ve encountered are Hurley & Volk. The rest don’t even look at you or address you as the parent. The child needs to receive that interaction from the doctor and staff but I need to support my child and can’t do that when I can’t hear what is being said even though I’m close by because the interaction is between the doctor and staff and whatever my kid hears. Since I am paying, I think that does deserve attention so that I know what is going on and can reinforce the plan. Great job Drs Hurley & Volk- the other doctors really need to learn from you a little more. Otherwise, great job!

Fantastic. 10 stars.Honestly if I could give more stars I absolutely would. Coming from a dentistry background.. And having a standard expectation for my own patients.. I tend to look a little bit more closely at how an office treats their patients. From the very 1st phone call with Shelby,. I could already tell that this office made it a priority to treat their patience with the utmost Respect and courtesy. She answered each And every 1 of my questions without making me feel rushed or as if I was taking up her time.Upon entering the office, the staff was incredibly kind and accepting of kids being kids :) they have games and coloring pages, a beverage bar and several other pieces of entertainment.The clinicians are so patient with the kids and fun!Shelby explained the treatment, finances, and options so professionally and realistically. Leaving no further question on my end. It helps that I have the background, but even if I didn't.. I would've had no questions. She is very kind and exceptionally great with the kids asking their questions! Dr. Allen came in, shook hands, and made us feel like a friend rather than a patient, all pf our wuestions were already answered so it was more a conversation. . But in that, you could see the level of appreciation he has for his staff and his patients. We are very excited to continue our ortho care here and can't wait to see everyone again! Thanks everyone!

As a first time Patient, I was extremely impressed with how I was seen right away with services I had inquired about. The Staff was more than informative & very passionate with my needs. They made me feel comfortable & addressed all my questions & concerns. The girl at the front desk deserves a raise Aaliyah was very polite and professional.

Best orthodontist practice in the area. Top notch doctors. Team is made up of friendly kind professional people. Treatment plans are detailed and explained wonderfully. Agreements are financially attainable. I was a patient and couldn’t take both of my kids anywhere else! We’re a family of beautiful healthy smiles. Best investment. Best choice.

From start to finish, Hurley and Volk (Smile Doctors) made our son feel comfortable. No matter who we spoke to — from the receptionists, to the assistants, to the orthodontists, and even the insurance specialists — they were all kind and constantly greeted us with a smile.Our 8-year-old enjoyed everything from his t-shirt to the candy he received once his braces came off. He felt comfortable with everyone despite being nervous. The ability to pick new colors for his bands was another thing he loved. He did dislike doing weekly scans only because we made him brush multiple times since he always missed food in his braces, but he says now he’s glad he got them.We’d highly recommend Smile Doctors (H&V) to anyone.
